Kacang, beras, millet, dan makanan lain yang sering dimakan orang Cina mengandung protein, asam lemak, dan karbohidrat. Panekuk Cina adalah salah satu bentuk kue yang paling awal. Seiring waktu, ada jenis kue dadar yang dikukus, dipanggang, digoreng, dan lainnya. Ada juga jenis bubur Cina yang tak terhitung jumlahnya, dimana hanya bahan dasarnya yang dibagi menjadi enam kelompok utama, yaitu biji-bijian, sayuran, buah-buahan, bunga, bumbu, dan daging. Sayuran yang umum di Cina antara lain kol Cina, lobak, terong, mentimun, kacang polong, dan berbagai kacang-kacangan beserta tumbuhan liar yang dapat dimakan yang ditanam dalam jumlah kecil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left has-normal-font-size\">Sejak zaman kuno, ada serangkaian kebiasaan yang terkait dengan makan pangsit. Pangsit melambangkan persatuan dan pesta. Membungkus dan menyantap pangsit di Festival Musim Semi adalah kegiatan yang tak terpisahkan bagi setiap keluarga. Pada malam Tahun Baru Imlek, seluruh keluarga duduk melingkar, menguleni adonan, mencampur&nbsp; isian, menggulung, membungkus, menjepit, dan merebus pangsit. Setelah pangsit dibuat, orang-orang menunggu sampai jam menunjukkan tengah malam sebelum memakannya. Hal tersebut menjadikan pangsit sebagai makanan pertama tahun yang baru.
